Ranking the 50 best college football players for 2016
Adoree’ Jackson is one of those rare talents who can do it all. Another kid on this list compares a little bit to Jackson and that is Michigan’s Jabrill Peppers. Jackson can play stellar defense at cornerback, catch balls as a receiver and return punts and kicks.
As arguably the most exciting player in college football, Jackson finished his sophomore season with 35 tackles, eight pass deflections, and a pick-six. Not many cornerbacks even tried to throw it in his direction because they knew how much of a threat he was to make a play on the ball.
The year before as a freshman, he finished with 49 tackles, four for loss and 10 pass breakups. The kid broke out in his first year and hasn’t looked back since. It’s not often you hear of a cornerback contending for the Heisman Trophy, but when you do as much as Jackson does on both sides of the ball and the return game, you can easily see why that is.
In his first season with USC, he averaged nearly 30 yards per kick return and his blazing speed helped him bring back a couple to the house. He averaged just 23 yards per kick return in 2015, but upped his production in the punt game, averaging over 10 yards per return and finished the year with two touchdowns in that category.
Jackson has 552 yards and five touchdowns on 37 receptions in two years as a receiver. That just goes to show how dynamic this cornerback is for the Trojans. Could he seriously contend for the Heisman?
