Texas Tech Recruiting: 4-star RB Stanley Hackett commits
The Texas Tech recruiting class added the commitment from four-star running back Stanley Hackett.
Texas Tech got an early start on their 2018 recruiting class Thursday as four-star running back Stanley Hackett (Sam Rayburn. Pasadena, TX) committed to the program. He made the announcement via Twitter earlier in the day.
Hackett is the No. 177 player in the 2017 class, No. 9 running back, and the No. 22 player in the state of Texas per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
Hackett is a recruit that has to this point, flown under the radar. He has received two offers in total as Texas Tech and Tulsa both did so. The Red Raiders did the honors on July 27 while Tulsa did so over the winter on February 3.
If there is one thing that we do know about Hackett, it is that he is a big-time playmaker. In the 2015 campaign, he rushed the ball 218 times for 997 yards and seven touchdowns. His numbers were a bit down from the year before as he carried the ball 238 times for 1,176 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2014.
With this commitment, the 2018 Texas Tech recruiting class now has two commitments. Joining Hackett in 2018 is three-star wide receiver Treveon Johnson (Giddings. Giddings, TX.) The class ranks No. 20 nationally and No. 2 in the Big 12 per the 247Sports Team Rankings.
Hackett is particularly dangerous when he is able to bounce to the outside and find the edge of the defense. From there, he can use his speed to break away from the defense and gain extra yards. He should provide a big boost to the Texas Tech running game, and has the potential to be an impact player.
