USC senior defensive end Jabari Ruffin was ejected in the first half of Saturday’s game against Alabama for stomping on a player’s groin.

In an opening game where the USC Trojans were trying to get a statement win, senior defensive end Jabari Ruffin made a crucial mistake. Not only that, but Ruffin also made a serious bro code violation.

In the second quarter of Saturday’s game against the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide, USC’s Adoree Jackson returned a kickoff to around the 20-yard line. After the return there appeared to be a little bit of a scuffle and a flag was thrown.

Upon replay, it revealed that while Jackson was trying to help an Alabama player up, his teammate Ruffin stomped that Crimson Tide player right in the groin. The referee called for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and ejected Ruffin right there on the spot

Admittedly, Ruffin absolutely deserved to get ejected. You can see the video of Ruffin’s mental error via Twitter below.

What on Earth was Ruffin thinking? To make matters even worse, USC’s Max Browne threw an interception on the very next play, which Marlon Humphrey took to the end zone for a pick six. That defensive touchdown gave the Crimson Tide a 17-3 lead heading into halftime.

The Trojans started the game off by going toe to toe with the Crimson Tide, but mental errors like this one from Ruffin didn’t help their cause in any way. When you’re playing the top-ranked team in the nation you can’t afford to get ejected.
