We’re still waiting on the results from Ole Miss and Notre Dame, but assuming that they both get a win (or Ole Miss at least makes their game close), they should be able to move ahead of Tennessee. After all, the Volunteers barely squeaked by Appalachian State in an overtime win which included a game-winning fumble into the end zone. That’s not exactly going to help you move up in the rankings.

As for Michigan State and Stanford, they didn’t exactly blow out their opponents, but they still got some solid wins. The first week is a good opportunity to work some things out, and it’s not like they had to sweat their respective games out.

Expect this group of teams to show their true colors in the coming weeks.
