Each week, right after the late games, we will project how the AP Top 25 will look on Sunday. Here’s our hypothesis for Week 2.

Week 1 offered plenty of down-to-the-wire challenges between top teams, causing a major shakeup from the AP Top 25 preseason rankings. Week 2 of this college football season seemed to offer far fewer challenges, as a pair of teams stayed home and rested after their openers and many other top 25 teams scheduled FCS opponents.

But that is why they actually play the games. Even though there were no matchups between AP Top 25 teams, there was still plenty of drama. A couple of teams suffered losses to unranked squads, while both Clemson and Georgia looked shaky against lower-tier opposition. Meanwhile a couple of dominant performances helped teams rise a few spots up the polls.

Our goal here each week is not to offer what Saturday Blitz perceives to be the best 25 teams, but rather to assess how the AP voters might come together to set the hierarchy. Based on the results of Week 2, this is how we imagine the AP Top 25 Poll will look when it is released tomorrow:
