Army’s Brandon Jackson Tragically Killed In Sunday Crash
Tragedy has struck the college football world again, with Army cornerback Brandon Jackson tragically passing in a single-car accident.
Army Black Knights starting cornerback Brandon Jackson was tragically killed in a single car accident near campus on Sunday. According to ESPN, the military academy announced on Monday that Brandon Jackson was killed in the single vehicle crash in Croton, New York.
Jackson, a sophomore, had just started and played in the Black Knights’ victory over Rice on Saturday. From Queens, New York, Jackson was a star in his freshman campaign last season. He had three interceptions, which led the team and 62 tackles.
It was an exciting start for Army this season as they have gotten off to a hot 2-0 start with wins over Temple and Rice. In fact, it’s been great for a three military academies as Air Force and Navy are also 2-0. It’s the first time sine 1996 that all three have had such great starts.
However, rightfully so, all that will take a backseat as the team, campus and military community mourn the loss of this young man. It’s certainly going to be tough on his teammates.
Head Coach Jeff Monken released a statement on Monday:
"“Words cannot describe the grief that our team is feeling over the loss of our brother and friend, Brandon. He was a beloved teammate and our hearts are with his family at this time of tragedy”"
According to the report, police got a call about the accident at 1:50 in the morning. The car had crashed into a guardrail and Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene.
On a day where the country mourned the loss of many heroes who had died 15 years earlier on September 11, 2001, we lost another hero on the roads of New York.

Players who have talent for “big time” schools like Jackson, but choose to attend one of the military academies, deserve all the respect in the world for what they sacrifice. He put serving his country first, ahead of football. That’s a true hero. May he rest in peace.
