Clemson WR Hunter Renfrow out with broken hand
Clemson will be missing one of their up-and coming pass catchers for the foreseeable future.
Currently sitting at No. 5 in the Associated Press Top 25 and at No. 3 in the Coaches’ Poll, life is going pretty well at the moment for Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers. However, late Monday, they received some disheartening news as it was announced that redshirt sophomore receiver Hunter Renfrow will miss a month of action with a broken hand. He will have surgery Tuesday per Brad Senkiw of the Independent Mail.
Renfrow has really begun to find himself as a player this season, catching four passes for 62 yards and two touchdowns in two contests and solidifying his role as the team’s starting slot receiver.
“We thought Hunter was going to be fine, but the MRI on Monday showed a little crack below his thumb,” Swinney said on his Monday night radio show. “He could play with it, but the injury would make it more difficult to hold on to the ball when he tried to tuck it away. He will have surgery to repair it and miss a few weeks.”
At the earliest, Renfrow could come back against North Carolina State on October 15. A more realistic possibility for a return is when the Tigers travel to Tallahassee on October 29 against Florida State.

Although this is certainly a sizable loss, Clemson has tremendous depth at the wide receiver position. In particular, Ray-Ray McCloud will have to step up and be a leader at the position for Clemson. He has explosive, playmaking capability and will need to use that to his advantage as the Tigers head into their contest with South Carolina State on Saturday
