The Clemson Tigers have another tuneup game in Week 3 against South Carolina State. Hopefully the results will be a bit better than last week…

Last week’s 30-24 victory over the Troy Trojans was an experience for the Clemson Tigers. Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson has been anything but a Heisman candidate in 2016.

The Clemson offense still struggled in Week 2, this time against a lesser foe. The Tigers scored 17 points in the fourth quarter to pull this one out.

One thing is clear so far this season: This Clemson team still has much to learn.

Clemson will have to learn to play without receiver Hunter Renfrow for a while. Renfrow is out for a month with a broken hand.

They will also need to learn to hold on to the ball all the way through the back of the end zone. Clemson running back RayRay McCloud will be on high alert this week.

The Tigers are 2-0 through two weeks but the offense still looks sluggish. Week 3 may be that defining game for Clemson.

South Carolina State is 0-2 on the season. Their two losses have come to UCF and Louisiana Tech by an average margin of 26 points.
