The Connecticut Huskies face two Atlantic Coast Conference opponents this season, up first the Virginia Cavaliers.
UConn lost a tough game last week 28-24 to Navy. Huskies quarterback Bryant Shireffs was almost perfect, completing 23 of 26 passes with 239 passing yards and a passing touchdown.
Shireffs and the Huskies offense ran out of time on the final drive of the game. They were stuffed at the one yard line as time expired.
Huskies receiver Noel Thomas had 11 catches for 116 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Navy jumped out to a 21-0 lead at halftime. But the Huskies came storming back to tie the game in the third quarter. The Huskies tied the game on an 88 yard fumble return by cornerback Jamar Summers.
The Virginia Cavaliers are 0-2 so far this season. Things haven’t gotten better since losing their home opener to Richmond. They lost last week to the Oregon Ducks 44-26.
Week 3 will tell the story of how their season will go for the Cavaliers.
So far, the Cavaliers and Bronco Mendenhall have shown that it could take awhile before things get better in Charlottesville.
The Cavaliers defense have allowed 40.5 points in two games so far this season. Their 23 points per game on offense are 118th best in the nation.
There was a bright spot for the Cavaliers in Week 2. Running back Albert Reid rushed for 126 yards and a touchdown.
