Michigan State Spartans (No. 12 to No. 8)
The Michigan State Spartans snapped a three-game losing streak to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish after their 36-28 victory. Now, they are one of four Big Ten teams in the top 10 of the AP Poll.
The Spartans defeated the Fighting Irish after blowing a 29-point lead in the second half. Michigan State was led by a balanced offensive attack. Their two man rushing attack of running backs Gerald Holmes and LJ Scott was unstoppable.
Holmes carried the ball 13 times for 100 yards and two touchdowns. Scott carried the ball 22 times for 98 yards and a touchdown. The Spartans rushed for 260 yards and passed for 241 yards in the game.
Michigan State’s defense answered the call when they needed to as well. They held the Fighting Irish to 57 rushing yards and forced three turnovers.
Whats Next?
The Spartans have a huge test next week as Big Ten Conference foe Wisconsin comes to town in Week 4. The two teams have not faced each other since 2012.
