Miami Hurricanes (No. 25 to No. 15)

The Miami Hurricanes jumped 10 spots in this week’s AP Poll and its well deserved. The Hurricanes are off to a 3-0 start and at their highest ranking since 2013.

The Miami Hurricanes began the season unranked but their 45-10 thrashing of Appalachian State has certainly gotten the notice of AP voters.

The Hurricanes wasted no time with the Mountaineers, running back Mark Walton ran the ball for 80 yards on the first play from scrimmage to score a touchdown. Walton finished the game with 130 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Miami scored 21 points in the first quarter and the game was never close. The Hurricanes defense sacked Appalachian State three times and held them to just 241 total yards of offense.

So far so good in Mark Richt’s first season as the head coach. He’s got the Hurricanes playing well at the right time.

Whats Next?

The Hurricanes are off until October 1 when they begin their Atlantic Coast Conference schedule in a game against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Miami has won six of the last seven meetings between the teams.
