Another kid who is on a team not necessarily known as a powerhouse this year has to be Jake Browning. The sophomore quarterback is putting up some impressive, not necessarily eye-popping, numbers for the Washington Huskies through three weeks.

If you’re looking for a reliable quarterback who can complete about 70 percent of his passes for over 200 yards and a few scores per game, Browning is your guy. He’s quietly becoming one of the best passers in the nation and he makes it look so easy. Washington has risen up to No. 9 in the latest AP Poll and Browning is a big reason why.

The Huskies have been a resurgent program under former Boise State head coach Chris Petersen and Browning is the gunslinger of the future.

Browning is already in his second season as the starting quarterback and he’s only four touchdown passes away from surpassing his mark from last season. He has 12 touchdowns and one interception to go along with 744 yards with a 72 percent completion rate.

If Washington can remain among the nation’s elite teams throughout the season and Browning can continue his solid streak, the California-native will be in the running for the Heisman Trophy before the season concludes.
