Average Home Attendance 2006-2015: 45,069 (99.8% of capacity)
Average Season Winning Percentage: .676
Seasons Under 90% Capacity: 0
Seasons Over 100% Capacity: 8
Over the past decade the Utah Utes have gone from a Mountain West success story to a Pac-12 contender. Along the way Utah’s fans have been there raucously enjoying the ride, moving up in the FBS hierarchy and taking the opportunity to visit new western venues. They can sometimes get heated, as was the case last year at the Las Vegas Bowl when longtime Holy War rival BYU received a larger allotment of tickets for its fans.
When they play at home, the Utes enjoy fanatical support at 45,000-plus Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City. Utah has eclipsed its average stadium capacity in each of the past eight seasons, both as a mid-major and as a Power Five program, and their rematch against BYU in a rejuvenated Holy War rivalry resulted in the school’s 40th consecutive sellout on September 10, 2016. Both winning and a step up in competition have helped to bolster Utah’s fan base, but the team was still selling out games when it was Wyoming and UNLV and New Mexico coming to town instead of USC and Oregon and Stanford.
No matter the competition or the conference in which their team plays, Utah fans have proven themselves loyal to the red and white. As they continue to develop and familiarize themselves in the Pac-12, they should only remain fanatical.
