5. Oregon Ducks

Average Home Attendance 2006-2015: 58,316 (108.0% of capacity)
Average Season Winning Percentage: .788
Seasons Under 90% Capacity: 0
Seasons Over 100% Capacity: 10

Oregon might seem like an odd choice to rank this highly, given their relatively recent rise to prominence, but the current generation of Ducks fans has proven itself willing to ride the ups and downs of supporting a national contender and keeping things noisy at one of the loudest stadiums in college football. As Oregon’s football team has taken flight as one of the most successful programs of the past decade, so too have its fans vaulted themselves among the most rabid fan bases in the game.

A 2002 expansion increased Autzen Stadium’s capacity to 54,000 officially — and only twice since then has the team failed to eclipse that figure. Both have happened in the first two home games of the 2016 season, as Oregon fell 183 fans short of reaching 100 percent capacity against FCS UC-Davis and then saw even fewer fans show up for Virginia. It ended one of the nation’s longest sellout streaks that had stretched 110 games dating back to 1999, and which originally had prompted the expansion of the stadium.

Could the fans be turning fickle against their beloved Ducks? Autzen Stadium ought to be sold out for its four Pac-12 home games once the students return to Eugene, but even if the stadium reaches a more common occupancy of 58,000-plus for its final games this will still be the lowest average attendance since Autzen’s expansion.
