Auburn sideline photographer Ashley Ward was on the wrong end of a kickoff during Saturday’s game against the LSU Tigers.

The Auburn Tigers and LSU Tigers were playing in a fierce SEC showdown on Saturday, but the football players weren’t the only ones getting hit.

During the game on Saturday, Auburn kicker Daniel Carlson booted one deep out of the back of the end zone in the third quarter. Auburn photographer and videographer Ashley Ward tried to scoot into the kickoff to try and catch the ball. Unfortunately, that didn’t go nearly as well as she had planned.

Instead of catching the ball, Ward got drilled directly in the face. Fortunately she avoided getting seriously hurt and was able toto shake it off. You can check out the video of her failed attempt at making the catch in the Twitter video below.

As if that wasn’t funny enough, someone directly next to Ward recorded the entire incident in a much more up close and personal angle.

We don’t mean to pick on Ward, but this is just too great. Fortunately she also has a sense of humor about the attempted yet failed catch. Shortly after the incident, Ashley did a quick interview with a local news reporter about getting hit in the face.

On the bright side, Ashley has quickly become an internet celebrity on Saturday night. She has already gained a couple thousand followers from the incident. That’s not a bad tradeoff for getting hit in the face with a football.
