College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 4
By Zach Bigalke
After two weeks out of the AP Top 25, TCU should jump back in this week after LSU’s loss to Auburn. The Horned Frogs won the Battle for the Iron Skillet against SMU on Friday night, knocking off the Mustangs on the road 33-3 in the rivalry game. Texas A&M transfer Kenny Hill threw for 452 yards and two touchdowns, while the defense held SMU to 320 yards and forced two interceptions. It was TCU’s fifth straight win over the Mustangs in the annual battle of Metroplex teams.
TCU’s only loss so far came to Arkansas, which in retrospect was an odd reason to knock the Horned Frogs out of the Top 25. Gary Patterson’s squad is already 1-0 in Big 12 play after beating Iowa State in Week 3, but their real conference tests begin next week when Oklahoma comes to Fort Worth. Only three other teams in the country are throwing for more yards than TCU, and while the defense is not of the best Patterson vintages it is still holding teams well enough for the offense to outscore them.
