College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 4
By Zach Bigalke
After barely surviving against Missouri last week to begin SEC play, Georgia suffered its first loss at Ole Miss. The Bulldogs did rack up 230 rushing yards despite losing Nick Chubb to a sprained ankle. But freshman quarterback Jacob Eason went just 16-of-36 for 137 yards and an interception that was returned 52 yards by senior Rebels cornerback Derrick Jones for a touchdown. Down 31-0 by halftime, Georgia never had a chance in Oxford on Saturday.
That said, it was just their first loss of the season. After failing to impress through its first three games, the margin of error did shrink for Kirby Smart’s crew but is hardly insurmountable. A home game against Tennessee between the hedges opens the door for a rebound, but first the team must solve its offensive woes and hope that Chubb heals quickly. More important will be solving the defensive deficiencies that were exposed by Ole Miss, because another loss will probably send them out of the Top 25.
