Former Big East basketball rivals Syracuse and UConn meet on the gridiron in a nonconference matchup. Here’s a full preview including how to stream it.

In its heyday, the Big East was the best basketball conference in the NCAA. Even natives of Tobacco Road had to acknowledge the top to bottom depth of the league. Some of them also played football, at a much less successful level.

While Syracuse leads the basketball series 55-37, UConn has dominated on the football field. The Orange has only one win in seven tries. The Huskies are unbeaten at home in the series, where they will play Saturday’s contest.

Syracuse’s lone win of the year came against Colgate in the season opener. They then became a prominent fixture in Lamar Jackson’s Heisman highlight reel as Louisville rolled to a 62-28 win. South Florida continued to pour on the points the following week by handing the Orange a 45-20 defeat.

UConn’s loss came against Navy in Week 2. The Huskies clawed back from a 21-0 deficit to take the lead in the fourth quarter but couldn’t hold it. They are coming off a 13-10 win over Virginia.

Syracuse’s defensive stats are a little inflated because they played the best offensive player in the country to this point, but USF doing basically the same thing the next week may mean they really are that bad. The Orange are allowing 249.7 yards per game through the air (92nd) and 231 yards on the ground (109th) and their defense is ranked 116th in FBS. The good news for them is UConn has the 111th-ranked offense.

The line in this game has been moved all the way down from a touchdown to UConn by a just field goal.
