The ACC still has four undefeated teams remaining this season and four teams ranked in the AP Top 25. It was another good week for the ACC, including a huge victory for the Duke Blue Devils…

The Virginia Cavaliers got their first victory of the season 49-35 over Central Michigan in Week 4 and they looked good doing it. They start our ACC power rankings remaining steady at 14th.

It was much of what fans expected in the first three games, as it was an electric offensive performance all around.

Quarterback Kurt Benkert threw for 421 yards and five touchdowns. Running back Taquan Mizzell had 10 carries for 79 yards and a touchdown. Mizzell also caught six passes for 89 yards and a touchdown as well. Wide receiver Olamide Zacchaeus had eight catches for 141 yards and two touchdowns.

It was the most offensive yards the Cavaliers produced all season as they had 569 total yards of offense in the game. The victory almost didn’t happen when the Chippewas tied the game 28 even to begin the fourth quarter.

But Benkert saved the day with three touchdowns passes in the fourth, including an 82-yard bomb to Olamide Zaccheaus to take the lead for good.

This Week: Duke

The Virginia Cavaliers start the ACC schedule against the Duke Blue Devils in Week 5. They face a hot Duke team who defeated the Fighting Irish in South Bend last week. The Cavaliers defeated the Blue Devils last season 42-34. They’ve won two of the last eight games.
