Stanford travels to Seattle to take on the Washington Huskies in a Friday night showdown between top 10 teams that could ultimately decide the Pac-12 North.

Stanford, lead by do it all running back, Christian McCaffrey, will be looking to lock down a major victory that would place them in the drivers seat for the Pac-12 North title. A victory over Washington would give Stanford a statement win and keep them in the hunt for a spot in the college football playoff. The Cardinal have started out well this year, getting past teams such as Kansas State, USC and UCLA with relative ease, even without an experienced starter at quarterback. Ryan Burns hasn’t been the quarterback that Kevin Hogan was, but he doesn’t have to be with McCaffrey in the backfield.

For Washington, a win in this matchup, like Stanford, places them at the head of the race for the Pac-12 North title. For Washington, this game will mean more. An emerging program that has been dormant for years, finally has the makings of becoming a powerhouse team. With young talented players such as quarterback Jake Browning and running back Myles Gaskin, the Huskies are a force to be reckoned with on offense and they have a stout defense. With 4 relatively easy victories to begin the season, Washington now faces a much stronger opponent. Quite simply, this game has to mean more Washington.

In what should be a great game between two very good teams, I would expect Washington to come out on top in this matchup. Not only do the Huskies have home field advantage, but they also have a far better quarterback in Browning than Stanford has in Ryan Burns. Of course, that might not matter as Christian McCaffrey is more than capable of taking over a game by himself. With that said, washington does have a strong defense that can corral him, they just can’t let him into the open field to make plays.
