Here’s how to stream Miami’s ACC season opener against Georgia Tech.

If you are a fan of the running game, this game is for you. Both Miami and Georgia Tech average over 200 yards on the ground. The Canes are sixth in the country in rushing yards per game, and the Yellow Jackets live and die on the triple option.

Miami has won six of the last seven meetings, but Georgia Tech is 9-4 at home in the series. While it will be Mark Richt’s first year in the series, he is not new to Georgia Tech’s difficult-to-cover option offense. He saw plenty of Paul Johnson when they were in-state rivals.

Looking at numbers without any real context, the Hurricanes look like one of the best teams in the country. They are undefeated, have the sixth-ranked scoring offense, and the top-ranked defense. They have been rewarded with the No. 14 ranking for their hard work. The only problem is they haven’t played anyone. They beat up on two of the lesser Florida schools in Florida A&M and Florida Atlantic. Their one debatably decent win was a walloping of Appalachian State on their own field. However, no matter how much they pushed Tennessee, App State is still a Sunbelt team.

Georgia Tech played No. 5 Clemson tough last Thursday, but that Tiger defense was just too strong and fast. As punishing as the Georgia Tech style can be on an unsound defense, a talented, properly-coached defense can render it completely ineffective. Clemson had 3 sacks and 7 tackles for a loss. They jumped out to a 23-0 halftime lead that forced Justin Thomas to pass more than Tech wants. He finished an abysmal 4-for-13 for 29 yards and had -25 yards rushing.  There is almost no comparison between the two passing games with Brad Kaaya on the other side.

The line is this game opened at 3.5 in the Canes favor and has been bet all the way up to 8 points in some places. The oddsmakers obviously are more skeptic of Miami’s start than the betting public.
