College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 5
By Zach Bigalke
Showdowns between AP Top 25 teams have caused some shifting in this week’s projections. Will your favorite team make the cut in Week 5?
Week 5 offered the first opportunity of the season to see all of the AP Top 25 teams in action as nobody was on a bye week. There was a top-10 showdown out west in the Pac-12 on Friday night, an afternoon top-10 showdown in the Big Ten on Saturday, and a primetime top-five showdown in the ACC to cap the weekend. There was also an SEC East battle featuring top-25 teams.
The pairings allowed for a little separation in the national hierarchy, although a few upsets sent teams tumbling out of the AP Top 25 as well. Everybody has at least four games under their belts, so the picture is really beginning to come into focus. After the primetime games have ended and we’ve had a chance to see a little of the night action, here is our guess on how the hierarchy will look when the pollsters have all submitted their ballots and the Associated Press has tallied the results.
