College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 5
By Zach Bigalke
Baylor was anything but impressive against Iowa State in Ames on Saturday, and will probably stand still in the AP Top 25 this week. Though they were able to grind out over 600 yards of total offense, the Bears still needed a comeback to kick a game-winning field goal at the end. Shock Linwood and Terence Williams ran all over the Cyclones defense, but while Seth Russell had two rushing touchdowns he never did get into a passing rhythm. Baylor’s defense, meanwhile, let ISU quarterback Joel Lanning complete over 75 percent of his passes while the Cyclones rushed for over 200 in the near-upset.
The Bears remain undefeated, and they should be for at least the next fortnight. Baylor has a bye week next weekend before hosting Kansas. Then they head on a three-game stretch that takes the Bears to Austin to play Texas, brings them back home to face TCU, and then sends them to Norman for a showdown with Oklahoma. At this point Baylor looks like the only team with any shot of getting the Big 12 into the College Football Playoff.
