College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 5
By Zach Bigalke
This was Washington’s first real test to see if they Huskies could live up to their lofty preseason hype. All they did was knock off a higher-ranked AP Top 25 team by 38 points and held last year’s Heisman runner-up completely in check. Myles Gaskin rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns, Jake Browning threw for another three scores, and the Huskies defense held Stanford to just 213 total yards of offense.
With the win over Stanford and Oregon staring at a down year, the Pac-12 North now looks like Washington’s to lose. The Huskies will look to end a 12-game losing streak against the Ducks at Autzen Stadium next weekend. They also have a tough road game in Salt Lake City against Utah at the end of October, but at this point Washington looks like the last chance for the Pac-12 to reach the College Football Playoff.
