Ohio State showed why they are the current front-runner in the Big Ten East this season. At home on Saturday the Buckeyes exerted their will in all phases of the game against visiting Rutgers. Like you’d expect from a team hunting for the top spot in the AP Top 25, Ohio State held the Scarlet Knights to 33 passing yards and 83 rushing yards. J.T. Barrett threw for 259 yards and four touchdowns, while the Buckeyes totaled 410 rushing yards in the rout.

Indiana comes to Columbus next weekend before a dangerous two-game road swing. Ohio State travels to Camp Randall Stadium to face Wisconsin on October 15, then heads to Happy Valley the following weekend for a showdown with Penn State. They likely won’t take over the top spot this week, and might even lose a spot in the AP Top 25 thanks to the top-five showdown in the ACC, but Ohio State remains on track in the Big Ten.
