College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 5
By Zach Bigalke
Let’s operate under the assumption that Boise State prevails at home against Utah State. At the time of posting, the Broncos are locked in a close struggle against division rival Utah State. Boise State took a four-point lead into the locker room at halftime, and they are still by no means guaranteed a victory. As we saw in the San Diego State game, after all, even the best Mountain West programs are imperfect this season.
The Broncos already have two wins on their resume over Pac-12 schools, always a prerequisite for Group of Five schools to grab the attention of pollsters. They debuted in the AP Top 25 last week after knocking off Oregon State in Corvallis. They still have one more non-conference game against BYU on October 20, and they’ll be favored in Mountain West play the rest of the way. As the only undefeated team left in the conference, Boise State is one again the league standard bearer this year.
