Texas Longhorns head coach Charlie Strong has been officially placed on the hot seat. If he gets canned, who are five coaches who could replace him?

After such a promising start to the season for the Texas Longhorns, the Big 12 program is now just 2-2 with two straight losses to California and Oklahoma State. Because of their recent struggles, head coach Charlie Strong is officially on the hot seat.

According to Pete Thamel from Sports Illustrated, the Longhorns head coach is reportedly very close to losing his job at the end of the season, while defensive coordinator Vance Bedford has been demoted. Despite coming from a defensive background, Strong has struggled to help the Texas defense, which has given up at least 47 points in three of their first four games.

If the defense doesn’t improve, Strong is gone. Fortunately for the Longhorns, there are a number of head coaching candidates they could look at this offseason if they part ways with their head coach. Texas has a rich football history, and the position will definitely have these coaches at least listening to what the program has to offer.
