Charlie Strong Hot Seat: 5 Replacements for Texas Head Coach
By Tyler Brooke
4. Jimbo Fisher
After the start that the Florida State Seminoles have gotten off to, I’m not entirely sure that Jimbo Fisher’s job is safe. Even if the Seminoles want their head coach back in 2017, I wouldn’t blame Fisher for wanting a change of scenery.
Fisher has been a dominant head coach for Florida State since taking over in 2010, leading the Seminoles to a 71-16 record to go along with a national title in the 2013 season. This season has been a different story, however, with Florida State getting off to an ugly 3-2 start with losses to North Carolina and Louisville, the latter being a 63-20 blowout.
Like Kiffin, Fisher has done a great job of developing quarterbacks during his time at Florida State. Just look at guys like Jameis Winston. Heck, he even made JaMarcus Russell look like a No. 1 pick while assisting at LSU.
I highly doubt that Fisher leaves Florida State this season, but a few more losses could change that. Regardless of what his record is at the end of the year, Texas should at least be gauging his interest.
