Charlie Strong Hot Seat: 5 Replacements for Texas Head Coach
By Tyler Brooke
2. Les Miles
The LSU Tigers made a hasty decision and fired one of the most successful college coaches in the nation. Sure, he’s struggled with clock management and the Tigers had struggled to start the season, but firing Miles before the season even ended was cold blooded.
While it has to hurt for Miles to be let go of the program he’s been coaching since 2005, this is a good thing for the former Tigers coach. Miles leaves LSU with a 114-34 record, two national championship appearances and a national title under his belt.
There’s almost a 100 percent chance that Miles has a head coaching position in college football next season. Could he end up at an SEC program to try and get revenge on LSU? Possibly, but the allure of a program like Texas might be too good to pass up on.
Not only could Miles coach the Longhorns back into relevance, but his reputation could help him land some big in-state recruits year after year.
