South Carolina-Georgia game postponed until Sunday

Because of Hurricane Matthew, the decision was made to delay the South Carolina-Georgia game until Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. ET.
The SEC announced on Thursday night that they would postpone the South Carolina and Georgia game in Columbia until Sunday because of Hurricane Matthew. Barring some other development, kickoff will be at 2:30 p.m. ET. The game was originally scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Saturday night.
“Due to the potential impact of the hurricane on Columbia and the surrounding area, it is in the best interest of safety to play the game on Sunday rather than Saturday night,” SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey said. “I appreciate the cooperation of the schools who worked closely to make the appropriate operational adjustments in order to accommodate this change in the schedule.”
The game will be broadcast on the SEC Network with their usual primetime announcer pairing. Brent Musburger and Jesse Palmer will be in the booth and Kaylee Hartung will be on the sidelines.
This was the second SEC game to be postponed on Thursday. Earlier in the evening, Florida and LSU was called off. However, that game was not rescheduled. There is no timetable for if and when those two will make up their game.
The postponement of the Gamecocks game wasn’t much of surprise. Columbia is far enough inland it will probably get mostly torrential rains without the hurricane force winds. However, Governor Nikki Haley let it be known she would not divert state resources, including the state troopers, for a football game while there’s a hurricane to worry about. As early as Tuesday, she didn’t think the game would be played.
