Georgia Tech vs Pittsburgh Live Stream: Watch Yellow Jackets vs Panthers Online
By Tim Kaiser
Find out how to stream this old-school, run-heavy matchup between Pittsburgh and Georgia Tech.
This is the type of throwback game that will have analysts slobbering over cliches to describe it. Slobberknocker might be the greatest of these. College football, and really football at all levels, is filled with teams that have substituted the spread, short-passing game for a traditional run attack. Pittsburgh and Georgia Tech are not two of those teams. They both run the football, a lot.
Georgia Tech is of course, to the frustration of some of their fans, still running Paul Johnson’s option offense. The Yellow Jackets are averaging 226 yards per game on the ground. Their lead runner is freshman Dedrick Mills, who has run for seven touchdowns. Mills is still yet to crack 100 yards, but he had his best game of the season last week against Miami. The 5-foot-10, 210-pound back rushed for 99 yards on 19 carries.
Pittsburgh is averaging 250 yards rushing. Junior running back James Connor still leads the team despite rushing for only 34 yards against Marshall last week. Going up against that vaunted rushing game has done wonders for the Panthers’ defense. They boast the fourth-ranked rush defense in the country, giving up just 69.8 yards per game. Georgia Tech would be wise to throw over the top of that defense and into a secondary that is as bad as their run defense is good. The Panthers are giving up 336.8 yards per game through the air (126th). However, the Yellow Jackets don’t have the passing game to exploit it. Junior Justin Thomas has thrown for just 458 yards and two touchdowns through five games.
Since betting opened, Pittsburgh has moved from an 8 point favorite to just 6. The total has had a similar two-point decline.
