The Miami Hurricanes weren’t happy with the targeting call during Saturday’s game against the Florida State Seminoles, but the fans were so upset that they threw trash on the field.

Saturday’s game between the Florida State Seminoles and Miami Hurricanes had major conference implications in the ACC. Every play was important in the game, and fans were furious when they disagreed on a crucial late call.

In the fourth quarter of Saturday’s ACC matchup, Miami’s Jamal Carter was penalized for targeting as the Seminoles tried to run the clock down up 20-13. The play was reviewed and although it appeared that Carter hit the receiver in the should area, the call stood and he was still ejected from the game.

The result was also a 15-yard gain for Florida State, and the Hurricanes fans were having none of it. The fans decided to throw trash onto the field in frustration, which you can see in the video below.

Despite what they thought about the call, there’s no place for trashing your own team’s football field when you don’t like what the referees decided. Yes, it hurt for the team to lose Carter for the rest of the game, but that was simply unsportsmanlike, especially with so much time left in the game.

The Seminoles couldn’t even capitalize with points on the board, so it’s not like the call blew them the game. Hopefully fans around the nation can learn from the mistakes of the fans in Miami and treat their team’s field with a little more respect.
