The UNLV Running Rebels are 1-0 in the Mountain West Conference, one huge advantage they have over San Diego State at the moment. But the Aztecs are still 3-1 and boast one of the best running backs in school history…

The San Diego State Aztecs lost last week to the South Alabama Jaguars 42-24 but all is not lost for the conference schedule. The Aztecs kick off their Mountain West schedule against the UNLV Running Rebels.

Running back Donnell Pumphrey rushed for 156 yards and a touchdown in the game. It was the 25th time Pumphrey ran for over 100+ rushing yards in his Aztec career.

The Aztecs gave up 21 points in the fourth quarter, squandering a 24-14 lead to drop the game in the final quarter. San Diego State coughed the ball up twice on fumbles, including an 80-yard fumble return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

The Aztecs will need to feed Pumphrey and limit their turnovers to get back on the winning side of things.

The UNLV Running Rebels are 2-3 on the season but 1-0 in the Mountain West after their 45-20 victory over the Fresno State Bulldogs last week. The Running Rebels ran all over the Bulldogs for 364 rushing yards and five touchdowns as a team.

Quarterback Dalton Sneed ran for 147 yards, including a 91-yard touchdown run. Sneed also threw for 129 yards and a touchdown.

Running back Charles Williams ran for 153 yards and a touchdown.

The Running Rebels also had an interception in the game as well. They’ll need to force some similar fumbles this week against the Aztecs to stick around.
