Kentucky Wildcats

I don’t take back what I said last week about Stephon Johnson being irrelevant as an SEC starter.  Kentucky won this game in spite of him. Kentucky went into halftime with a 17-3 lead and appeared like they may run away with this one in the third quarter. Instead the Wildcats had to fight off a passive aggressive comeback attempt by Vanderbilt. The victory was enough to ensure that Stoops would reach his annual 5 wins, but that appears to be his max.

Impact Moving Forward

Little to none

The second worst team in SEC football beat the worst team in SEC football. While a division win is nice, Kentucky still clearly has a ton of obstacles. Unless a passing attack magically generates soon, Big Blue Nation will turn their attention to basketball sooner rather than later. The Wildcats do have a chance to build some steam, however, with winnable games against Mississippi State and Missouri after their upcoming bye.
