College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 7
By Zach Bigalke
After upsetting Houston in resounding fashion, Navy gets an unexpected break off this week and should stay right where they are in the AP Top 25. The Midshipmen were slated to play East Carolina this Saturday, but the flooding that followed the landfall of Hurricane Matthew has forced the AAC to push the contest back to November 19. As a result, the nation’s 11th-best rushing attack gets another week to focus and prepare on next week’s visit by Memphis that will determine which team has the inside track on the AAC West crown.
Should Ken Niumatalolo’s team get past the Tigers in Annapolis on October 22, they turn around and play at South Florida on the following Friday after a short week. Looming in early November is a Notre Dame team that has struggled against the Midshipmen in recent years. There are still some obstacles on the rest of Navy’s schedule, but if the Middies can run the table from here they’ll have a great case to put up for consideration in the hunt for a New Year’s Six berth.
