College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 7
By Zach Bigalke
A missed field goal proved costly for the Rebels as they were forced to go for a touchdown on their final drive of the game. But Chad Kelly fumbled as he scrambled for the first down on 4th and 16, handing the ball to the Razorbacks and dealing Ole Miss its third loss of the year. Kelly completed just 18 of his 39 attempts for 254 yards, throwing a touchdown and a pick to go with his late fumble. He also rushed for 89 yards and two scores, but it wasn’t enough as Ole Miss fell further down the AP Top 25 and into a deeper hole in the SEC West.
The Rebels will try to rebound after their third loss against a Top 25 team. Hugh Freeze’s squad heads to LSU next weekend before hosting Auburn on October 29. They open November with a home game against Georgia Southern, then take to the road on consecutive weekends for showdowns against Texas A&M and Vanderbilt. The season ends with the Egg Bowl in Oxford against Mississippi State. The Rebels should be bowl eligible by then, but will probably be out of the running for a New Year’s Six bid by then.
