College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 8
By Zach Bigalke
By halftime Auburn had already built up a four-score lead on the Razorbacks, and they didn’t let up in the second half. By the end, the Tigers had rolled up a 56-3 drubbing of Arkansas that put them up to third in the SEC West. Kamryn Pettway was the catalyst for the offense, rushing for 192 yards and two touchdowns. The ground game racked up a total of 543 rushing yards and seven scores for Auburn, while Sean White only attempted 11 passes for 77 yards and a touchdown. The defense held the Razorbacks under a yard a carry and didn’t let Austin Allen throw for even 200 passing yards.
After a rough start to the season, the Tigers have now won four straight and seem to be improving week by week. They finish October with a trip across the western border to face Ole Miss in Oxford, then return to the Plains for a date with Vanderbilt at the beginning of November. Then they have road trips to rivals Georgia and Alabama sandwiched around their home finale against FCS Alabama A&M. If they arrive in Tuscaloosa on Thanksgiving weekend with a 9-2 record and just one loss in conference play, Gus Malzahn’s crew could raise the stakes of the Iron Bowl considerably.
