2017 NFL Mock Draft: First-Round Projections after Week 8
By Tyler Brooke
There are so many other positions that the Indianapolis Colts should focus on, but with Florida State running back Dalvin Cook on the board, it’s going to be hard to pass up on him. Frank Gore is nearing the end of his career and the Colts need a long-term workhorse running back to play behind Andrew Luck for (hopefully) the rest of his career.
That’s exactly what Cook could bring to the Colts. The Florida State prospect is a true home-run hitter with the vision to find the hole and the acceleration to hit the hole at full speed for some huge plays. When watching him play, it’s hard not to be reminded of a young Chris Johnson with the way Cook operates.
Yes, the Colts could look at any position on their defense, but Cook has the potential to be a Pro Bowl running back at the next level. Indianapolis desperately needs some balance to its offense, and adding Cook could take a lot of pressure off of Luck and the passing game.
