Like Hill, we’re not going to put Ball State running back James Gilbert that high on this list due to the competition that he’s faced. However, you can’t ignore the production that Gilbert has had over the past few weeks.

This season, Gilbert has run for 987 yards and 11 touchdowns while averaging 5.5 yards per carry. That’s pretty impressive for a sophomore who comes in at just 5’8” and 194 pounds. He’s been especially productive as of late, putting up 657 yards and eight touchdowns over his last four games.

The Cardinals aren’t making much noise in the MAC this year, but you have to be impressed with Gilbert for keeping his head down and running all over opposing defenses. Now Gilbert just has to hope that Ball State can start racking up some more wins in the next couple of seasons.
