While there’s no denying the stress and sacrifice it takes to be a head football coach, there is plenty of reward for the ones that make it big.

Quick, Name the highest paid college football coach in the country! Nick Saban? Not this year. Urban Meyer? Not even second. Jimbo Fisher? Nah. Oh, sure it must be the long-tenured Bob Stoops! Again, you’d be wrong.

While all of these great coaches make the Top 10 Highest Paid Coaches list, none of them are the highest paid. One attribute they each have in common, though, is that each has won a national championship. Apparently one does not need a national title to become the high paid college football coach in the entire country.

There is your final clue, and I’m sure you know it now.

Overall, the SEC leads the way with the highest paid coaches in college football. Four SEC coaches cracked the top 10, although all four of them reside in the SEC West. The SEC was followed up by the Big 10 and Big 12 (three each) and the ACC (one) rounded out the group.

So what exactly did these coaches make? Who are they? We cover the top 10 here thanks to USA Today’s list of the highest paid college football coaches.
