Here’s how to stream the pivotal ACC Coastal matchup between the No. 25 Virginia Tech Hokies (5-2, 3-1 ACC) and the Pittsburgh Panthers (5-2, 2-1).

Currently, three teams are tied in the loss column atop the ACC Coastal division. No. 21 North Carolina currently leads by way of their 4-1 conference record. Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh will play on Thursday night to see who keeps pace. The other will be all but eliminated from the race to Orlando.

By the transitive property, you would have to favor Virginia Tech in this game. The two had drastically different games against their common opponent, North Carolina. Virginia Tech battered the Heels on the way to a 34-3 win in the middle of Hurrican Matthew. The Panthers coughed up a 13-point fourth quarter lead, and Bug Howard made a  late one-handed touchdown catch while being interfered with to give Carolina the 37-36 win.

Their performances against the current Coastal leader is a fairly accurate representation of what these two teams are. They have similarly capable offenses with both ranked in the top 20 in points. Virginia Tech is more balanced, and the Panthers have a better rushing offense. Defense is where the biggest discrepancy lies. The Hokies allow only 17.9 points per game. Pitt gives up more than 30 thanks to the 122nd-ranked passing defense in FBS.

In kind, the oddsmakers made the Hokies 4-point road favorites. It has since been bet down to 3.5 in most places. The line would have most likely been much closer to a touchdown or more if not for the clunker they put up two weeks ago at Syracuse.

Pittsburgh beat Virginia Tech the last four times they played at Heinz Field.
