Lamar Jackson hits Jaylen Smith for game-winning TD vs Virginia
By Tyler Brooke
Louisville’s Lamar Jackson found Jaylen Smith for the game-winning touchdown to avoid an upset against Virginia on Saturday.
The Louisville Cardinals nearly got upset by the Virginia Cavaliers on Saturday in a tightly-contested ACC matchup. Fortunately for the Cardinals, they still have Lamar Jackson.
In what might have been Jackson’s signature Heisman Trophy moment, the Louisville quarterback led the Cardinals down the field after the Cavaliers went up by one point after a touchdown and two-point conversion on the previous drive.
Louisville drove 75 yards in just eight plays and capped it off with a 29-yard pass from Jackson to Jaylen Smith for the game-winning touchdown. The Cardinals survived the scare and moved to 7-1 on the year to keep their College Football Playoff hopes alive. That play gave Jackson four passing touchdowns in the game, giving him 38 total touchdowns this season.

After a game like that, Jackson might have officially sealed his fate as the Heisman Trophy winner for this season. It has been an unbelievable season for the sophomore quarterback, as he continues to make big plays one after another.
Now, the Cardinals have to hope for a shakeup in the top four if they want to have a chance at making the College Football Playoff. It doesn’t help that Clemson is in the same division as them in the ACC, as they likely won’t be able to play in the conference championship unless the Tigers completely fall apart.
Regardless, Lamar Jackson has proven time and time again that he’s the Heisman Trophy front runner, and this game-winning score should be his signature moment.
