Lee Corso’s College GameDay headgear pick: Washington vs Utah
By Jordan Luth
Check out Lee Corso’s headgear pick for Washington vs. Utah as GameDay heads out to Utah for the second straight year
College GameDay headed out west for the first time this season. The crew was in Salt Lake City, Utah for a huge Pac-12 matchup between No. 4 Washington and No. 17 Utah. Washington comes in still undefeated, while Utah has just one loss. The Huskies come in as 10.5 point favorites over Utah on the road. I feel that this game will be won by a touchdown or less.
Utah has been on college GameDay now five times. This was their fourth time hosting them. GameDay has been in Utah in, 2004, 2010, 2015, and now 2016.
If you look at it from a statistical view, Washington has a huge advantage. The average 48.3 points a game, compared to Utah’s 29.9. The Huskies allow only 14.6 points while Utah allows 21.6. If Utah is going to knock off this top five team, their defense is going to have to step up. Along with their defense, Utah’s QB Troy Williams, who has actually played a game for Washington before, needs to play a lights out game. Utah does have an advantage in one aspect of the game and that is in Special teams. The Utes are number 2 in the country in kicks inside the 10. If they can utilize that, they can control field position through out the game.
Along with control field position, Utah will have to control Washington’s quarterback, Jake Browning. He has had an amazing year. He has passed for 1709 yards and 26 touchdowns on the year. Utah will have to slow him down if they are to have a chance at the upset. Utah’s greatest ally in this game will be their home field advantage. The fans will have to play their part as well.
Lee Corso will seek to continue his five game win streak. He is 6-2 on the year and is looking for win number seven. Corso is 2-0 when he picks Utah, but he is also 2-0 when he picks against Utah. He is also 3-0 when picking Washington. He has a good sense for both these teams, so which one will he take?
Corso chose the Huskies to stay undefeated in a tough road challenge.
Will Washington stay undefeated or will Utah be able to pull a huge upset and shock the top 5 right before the college football playoff rankings come out.
