College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 10
By Zach Bigalke
Auburn hardly had the best game of its season in Week 10, but at least they held on to keep winning in a tough SEC race. After going into the locker room down 13-10 at halftime, the Tigers rebounded for a 23-16 victory over Vanderbilt. Sean White was held to just 106 passing yards and a touchdown, while Auburn did most of its damage on the ground. Kamryn Pettway had 173 of Auburn’s 271 rushing yards, getting another touchdown in the process, and the defense fended off 35 minutes of Vanderbilt possession to survive the upset bid by the Commodores.
The narrow victory isn’t going to do much for AP pollsters, who will probably reject the temptation to move Gus Malzahn’s team up the Top 25 a few spots to match the CFP rankings. They will move into the top ten by virtue of Texas A&M’s upset loss, but it will be a more natural shuffling of the polls as we see throughout the year. At this point Auburn is on pace to make their Iron Bowl showdown with the Crimson Tide a de facto SEC West championship game.
