Tommy Armstrong suffers scary injury vs Ohio State
By Tyler Brooke
Nebraska Cornhuskers starting quarterback Tommy Armstrong suffered a frightening injury on Saturday against the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Injuries are a part of football, but moments like this one on Saturday are still why so many people are afraid of letting their children play such a violent game.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers had a huge game against the Ohio State Buckeyes on Saturday in a top 10 showdown between two top-tier Big Ten teams. Tommy Armstrong Jr. has been the leader of the Cornhuskers this season as their starting quarterback.
During the first half, Armstrong was scrambling down the sideline when he hit the turf and stopped moving. The trainers quickly went to his side and tended to him for minutes without anyone seeing him move. The stadium fell silent and fans began to get emotional as they put Armstrong on a stretcher and eventually put him in an ambulance.
Here’s the play that caused Armstrong to go down.
While heading towards the ambulance, Armstrong gave a thumbs up to the crowd, although it was clear that he was still seriously injured.
Nebraska provided the following update regarding Armstrong.
UPDATE: Tommy Armstrong has returned to the stadium to watch the rest of the game with his teammates.
It was an incredibly emotional series of events for both teams, but unfortunately a game still had to be played. Nebraska quarterback Ryker Fyfe replaced Armstrong at quarterback following the frightening injury.
The Cornhuskers have already been playing with heavy hearts due to the tragic accident involving punter Sam Foltz, who was killed in a car accident this summer. Hopefully we will hear more about Armstrong’s conditions in the near future and that he can make a full recovery.
