Lamar Jackson is as gifted as college football players come. The sophomore quarterback for Louisville is the main reason why the Cardinals continue to blow through opponents on their quest for the final playoff spot. Coming in at No. 7 in Week 10 was a little disappointing, and they took their anger out on Boston College. Poor Eagles.

It was a bit surprising to see the Cardinals ranked so low after they were ranked fifth in the AP Poll just two days before the first playoff rankings were released. Many believed that Louisville should have been fifth in the playoff poll, too, but that didn’t happen.

Louisville walloped Boston College 52-7 on Saturday and Jackson needed just 17 pass attempts to throw four touchdowns and he ran 15 times for 185 yards and three more scores. He now has 45 total touchdowns this year.

Jackson is arguably the nation’s leader for the Heisman Trophy. Barring some type of massive upset where he throws three interceptions and looks awful, the young dual-threat is going to walk away with the award and open the 2017 season as the clear favorite.

As long as he can keep leading this Louisville team to wins, the rest could potentially take care of itself. The Cardinals may not win the ACC this season, but they might be one of two teams from the conference with a chance to win the national title.
