College Football Playoff Rankings: Projected Top 10 after Week 10
Washington felt slighted a week ago when Texas A&M jumped over the Huskies for the No. 4 spot in the initial playoff rankings and they’re going to feel the same way this week when they aren’t in the top four again. This was one of the tougher picks to make, but I believe a one-loss team made a bigger impact on the committee than the Huskies did last week.
A 66-27 win over Cal on the road is no joke, but the Huskies are unfortunately playing in the Pac-12 which is having its worst year in recent memory. Stanford, UCLA, USC and Oregon (AKA the usual contenders) are all suffering down-years and the Huskies are one of three teams from the conference that look to be in good shape.
The Huskies might be 9-0, but looking at their schedule, there are no big wins in sight. You might look back at the 44-6 blowout over Stanford as a resume-builder or even the 70-21 road win over Oregon, but both of those teams have dropped off considerably this season.
Utah was the best win for the Huskies which took place last week and they have just one game remaining against Washington State in which they can add to their resume. That and a potential Pac-12 title matchup with a team like Colorado.
Jake Browning and the Huskies better not overlook USC this week, though.
