The Wildcats were this close to pulling off a the upset against Georgia. After Kentucky lost to Southern Miss and Florida to begin the season, Wildcat nation began counting the days to basketball. Fans have tuned back in, though, as Kentucky won three straight against Vanderbilt, Mississippi State and Missouri.
Kentucky led Georgia 21-13 deep into the third quarter, but couldn’t get the job done. Georgia reeled off 11 straight points to take the lead. After that, the teams swapped field goals with Georgia having the ball last to kick a game winner as time expired.

The loss against Georgia stings, but it won’t prevent Kentucky from going bowling. The Wildcats played their heart out and came up just short of knocking off a more talented team. While the W would have been nice, Kentucky still gets Austin Peay to secure a bowl. After two straight seasons of being stuck at five wins, a close game against Georgia and a basically guaranteed bowl game still provide traction and positive vibes for Stoops and Co.
