Group of Five: Week 10 Access Bowl Power Rankings

At home last weekend, the Tulsa defense allowed 436 passing yards to East Carolina and still nearly doubled up the score on the Pirates. That’s because the same defense held ECU to just 38 rushing yards on 30 carries, stuffing the visitors repeatedly at the line and in the backfield. While on offense, Dane Evans threw for 274 yards and three scores. Josh Atkinson caught 10 of those passes for 123 yards and two touchdowns, while James Flanders and D’Angelo Brewer each rushed for 180 or more yards.
Tulsa could throw yet another wrench into the gears of the AAC West this season when they head to Maryland to face Navy this weekend. If Philip Montgomery’s team can knock off the Midshipmen, they would be in the driver’s seat in the division with two games left to play. Win out and Tulsa would be the division champ. Even if the Golden Hurricane were to drop one of the games against UCF or Cincinnati, and both Navy and Houston won out from there, it would create a three-way tie in the division that would still go to Tulsa (Houston would be eliminated due to losing both of its games within the division, and then Tulsa would advance on head-to-head against Navy).
