To celebrate their win on Saturday against the Purdue Boilermakers, the Northwestern Wildcats carried their teammate, a retired Navy SEAL, off of the field.

College football teams around the nation honored our current and former military members in on Saturday in honor of Veteran’s Day. There were a lot of touching tributes, but not many teams have someone like Tom Hruby to honor.

Hruby is a retired Navy SEAL who currently plays on special teams for the Northwestern Wildcats. A 32-year-old walk on, Hruby has been on the team for three seasons, and this will be his final year on the team.

The Wildcats honored Hruby throughout the game, from carrying the American flag out onto the field to even giving him a chance to score a touchdown late in the blowout win. Hruby may have fumbled the potential touchdown, but that didn’t stop his teammates from carrying him off of the field after the big win.

You can check out the touching moment in the video below.

The Wildcats started slow, but they finished strong in the 45-17 blowout win over Purdue. With a 5-5 record and two games remaining against Minnesota and Illinois, the Wildcats are hoping that they can somehow pull out another win to be bowl eligible. As for Purdue, they’re just 3-7 and are just hoping that this season can end on a positive note.

As for Hruby, this has to be a game that he’ll never forget. We’re just hoping he’ll get another chance to find the end zone before the season is over.
